Maiko Transformation Studio ShikiKyoto

As the country's ancient capital, Kyoto is a city that has done much to shape what we know as Japanese culture. That is certainly evident today in Kyoto's magnificent old architecture, which draws visitors from all around the world. And it is also evident in the tradition of the apprentice geisha known as maiko.

Many tourists in Kyoto are keen to photograph these female entertainers in their gorgeous attire. But even in the teahouse districts maiko frequent, that can be difficult since the elusive maiko seldom appear on the streets.
